File and Printer Sharing
Similar with other TCP/IP networks (LAN) on Windows, you can explore
the shared resources on both computers if you have assigned
a unique name for each computer and an identical workgroup name for both
computers and configure
Windows firewall to enable file and printer sharing.
From the Laptop you can read a document or run a program stored on
the Desktop, play a two-player network game, print a picture on a
printer connected to the Desktop, chat using Net Meeting, etc. But, ICS
(Internet Connection Sharing) is not supported since there is no ICS
host (Internet gateway).

You can do the same things from the other computer, i.e. the Desktop.
